Emmanuel “Manny” Nix grew up with Charles Wakefield in Greenville. They spent their childhoods and teen years together as cousins and close friends.

Nix left Greenville for the Navy just before Wakefield was arrested. He learned of the murders while at sea and came home to find Wakefield on Death Row.

Nix insists Wakefield never had the ability or character to kill someone. Nix worries that authorities will look for a way to put Wakefield back in prison as retribution for Wakefield’s efforts to clear his name.
