Leonard Brown

Leonard Brown is the founder of Southeastern Alarm Systems, a popular security company on Greenville’s west side. Brown provided alarms and personal response service for thousands of clients, including the Greenville County Schools. During his time as the company’s owner, he personally captured more than 1,000 burglars.

In 1972 and 1976, Brown ran for Greenville County Sheriff. Although his election bids were not successful, today he says that the simple act of running for Sheriff was the best possible advertising for his alarm company.

Brown was a well-known critic of the early 1970s Sheriff’s Office and often worked to expose corruption and incompetence among law enforcement.
