Scott McAuley was in his early teens when a murderer killed his uncle Rufus and cousin Frank Looper. Despite his youth, he felt almost immediately uncomfortable with Charles Wakefield, Jr.’s conviction.
McAuley lives in Greenville, South Carolina with his wife, not far from the grandparents he shared with his cousin Frank.
While McAuley hasn’t been as public as his mother and sister in his advocacy for Wakefield, McAuley remains adamant that he believes in Wakefield’s innocence. He said of Wakefield, “I don’t think I’ve ever met a more gentle man.”
